Iceland 2014 | Egilsstaðir to Höfn
Today was waterfall day. I think we probably saw at least 100 waterfalls, big and small. Justin of course was in heaven and took a million photos.
Lagarfljót
I don't like declaring favorites typically when I'm talking about my travels, and Justin is the same way. Each place is unique in its own special way, so how can you compare them? That being said, I can tell you that the Egilsstaðir area is one of my favorite parts of Iceland. It is absolutely beautiful there. The town perches to the east of Lagarfljót, a lake that also has the Lagarfljót River flowing through it. It's situated in a valley between mountains with snowy tops. It's a fairly large lake, with a surface area of 53 sq km (20 sq m), and it's about 25 km (16 m) long and 2.5 km (1.6 m) wide at its widest part. A cousin to the Loch Ness monster, Lagarfljótsormurinn is supposed to live in the depths of the lake. We didn't see it, though.
